Film Review: Hummingbird

June 30, 2013 1:37 pm

Starring Jason Statham and Agata Buzek, Hummingbird is a film about an ex soldier on the run living in the criminal underworld of London, when he get’s himself in a spot of bother he finds help from Buzek who plays Cristina..the nun.

Even though the plot may sound a little silly, this film is non stop action right from the start. So the part of Joey suited Statham very well, but when the action comes to a halt in the film you can’t help but think that he looked a little awkward and out of place. But overall he gave another magnificent performance!

Steven Knight made his directorial debut with this film and I really think he did a brilliant job, showing the world that London isn’t just a tourist attraction, but there are streets and alleyway’s that are very dangerous in this big city! His vision really made this dark London thriller work really well.

The only real problem I had with this film was the plot at times was laughable. I don’t really want to give too much away, but honestly when you watch this film there will be points where you think to yourself. “Did that actually just happen”. I also think it was rushed at times, I really would have liked to see Joey’s time in the army instead of just flashbacks!

Hummingbird is in cinemas now!

This film is very fun to watch because every character has a secret no matter how nice they seem, and action wise it keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole film. Even though the plot was a little confusing and stupid I’d still give this film 6/10. Go and see it if you have to time.
