6 Ways To Ensure A Safe Move

Moving house is an incredibly stressful experience, especially if you haven’t planned things in advance. There are so many things you need to think about from hiring a removal team, arranging accommodation for your pets and keeping absolutely everything safe as you move. With that in mind, here are 6 ways to ensure you have a safe move:

– Make Sure You Have Everything Packed Up And Labelled Beforehand

To ensure you move everything across to your new house safely, it’s important you make sure you have packed everything up beforehand. If you need to bubblewrap valuables ensure there is more than enough protection to transport everything without any breakages. Often it’s easy to get carried away with packing and throw everything into a box without taking extra care, but you never know what could be dropped on moving day.

– Ask Friends And Family To Give You A Helping Hand

If you don’t think you’re going to be able to move everything safely on your own, consider asking your friends and family to help. Although it may be begrudgingly, they’ll be able to help you carry everything from your old house to your new. You may find that it’s both easier and quicker, the more people you have helping you out.

– Hire A Removal Team For Ease

If you’re not sure you have enough people to help you out, hiring a removal team is a great alternative. Although it is an expensive option to take, you can be sure that everything is going to be done professionally and with care. Your removal team will take extra care with your boxes and furniture, ensuring absolutely nothing gets broken.

– Rearrange Your Utility Bills And Let People Know You’ve Moved

Before you move you need to let all of your utility companies know that you’re moving and rearrange all of your bills. This way you can be sure that when the new tenants move in, the utility companies you use will already be aware that they need to contact them. It also allows you to save money, helping you avoid paying for any uncessecary crossovers. To find out how to sort out your bills when you have moved house, you can visit this handy guide here.

– Get Your Locks Changed Before You Move In

When you move into your new house it’s important you find out whether or not you can get your locks changed. You never know how many people have had a copy of your key before you, so changing this will ensure that you’re the only one with access to your house. For more information, you can visit SJO Locksmith.

– Set Up A Mail Forwarding Account

Finally, you need to set up a mail forwarding system that will ensure all of the mail delivered to your old address gets redirected to your new address. Not only does it mean you will be able to have access to your old homes mail, but you’ll save the new tenants a lot of trouble.

Are you moving house soon? What are your plans to ensure you have a safe move? Let me know in the comments section below.
