What Your Piercings Say About You

Whether you can see them or not, pretty much everyone of a certain age has piercings these days. Let’s face it – there are so many to choose from that you might have forgotten a few of them. And some are definitely mistakes that you’d love to take back if you could.

But, you shouldn’t because it turns out your piercings are insights into the soul. Yes, they look like shiny bits of metal dangling from thin patches of skin, yet they are full of meaning. Here’s what yours say about you.

Belly Button

A tummy piercing is probably one of the most complicated piercings going. Firstly, the fact that you went for something different means you want to be exotic and unique, which is why you swerved the played-out hole in the ear. However, body jewellery is more than a sign of your desire to stand out. The fact you can hide it shows you are semi-responsible because it doesn’t have to be on show all the time. Believe it or not, some boys and girls throw caution to the wind and deal with the consequences later. You strike the perfect balance between trying something new and having a safety net!

Helix

The helix is a part of the ear above the lobe. Again, it’s a sign that you want to be edgy and cool because it’s different and stands out from the crowd. Going off the typical traits of people with helix piercings, you have probably been through a period of loving indie-rock and roll music and some kind of punk genre. Think of Hayley Williams in her Paramore prime. However, there’s a chance none of this applies any longer since helix piercings are common among young guys and gals, so you might have grown out of your phase. Don’t worry because it still looks nice.

Eyebrow

Straight off the bat, this piercing almost certainly makes you a guy. It turns out that, as well as a single earring in the left ear (or is it the right?), an eyebrow was an acceptable place for males to get in on the piercing trend. Thankfully, it’s a lot more subtle than it sounds, and it looks good as long as your accessory style has grown with your fashion choices. Yep, that means no go-faster line in the middle of your brows, fellas!

Both Lobes

Having both lobes pierced is a classic move. The cliched story is that you begged your mum to let you have it done, and she finally relented when you were a teenager. Following the trend, you played it safe and decided to have both of your ears done, and you’ve never looked back. Some people might say it’s not as exciting as other options, yet it’s timeless and elegant and an ideal way to focus on jewellery more than the piercing itself. Alternatively, you might be sporty as these piercings are low-maintenance and won’t result in a horrific hockey incident involving a stick and a bloody ear.

Ouch!
