How to Keep Your Team Motivated When Working Remotely

After a brief return to work, many businesses are once again sending their employees home to work remotely. All of this change and uncertainty is incredibly disruptive for businesses, but also unsettling for their employees. If you are concerned about the impact that a return to remote working will have on your team, it is essential to look for ways to keep morale high.

Keeping your team motivated when you cannot meet them face to face can be a challenge. Without connecting in-person, it is easy for your team to fragment and for the standard of work to drop. After such a long period of disruption caused by the pandemic, it is only natural that your employees’ wellbeing may be suffering. Doing all that you can to support your employees through this difficult time and maintain the feeling of being part of a team has many benefits. Feeling appreciated can help to keep productivity levels high and ensure that every team member feels valued. Here are some ideas to help keep your team motivated when working from home:

Keep Communicating

Communication is always vital for effective teamwork. If speaking in-person is not possible, strong communication will become even more essential.

Making a conscious effort to regularly check-in with each team member will provide the opportunity for issues to be raised and help to maintain a feeling of connection. No one wants to feel forgotten about, so arranging a video call could be more effective than emailing back and forth.  As well as individual communication, it is also vital to communicate as a group to keep the team as a cohesive unit.

Ease the Pressure

Many people are finding that their anxiety levels have escalated during the pandemic, and your employees are no exception to this. This difficult time may have caused personal challenges for your employees, such as feeling lonely or isolated, so being mindful of this possibility is crucial.

Being kinder to yourself and your employees by easing the pressure a little may help to relieve some of the strain of working from home during lockdown. Productivity levels need to remain high but being aware that piling on added pressure by increasing their workload could harm their motivation.

Being aware of your tone of voice when communicating about work matters is also important, especially when talking via email. The tone of voice can be hard to interpret in an email, and you may inadvertently add more pressure.

Provide Rewards

If you want to make your team members feel truly valued, then rewarding them for their hard work is an excellent way to do this. Sending out personalised care packages from 4AllPromos

will give your team a boost and are sure to be a nice surprise to brighten up their day. Everyone wants to feel their hard work is being noticed and appreciated, so acknowledging this and providing a reward is sure to help keep motivation levels high even when your team are unable to work together in the office.
