Growing A Business While Remaining Eco-Friendly

June 16, 2021 1:58 pm

If you run a business, you might well be keenly aware of these two responsibilities: that of taking care of your business to ensure it grows healthily, and that of being as eco-friendly as possible, in order to reduce your carbon footprint and not have too negative an effect on the planet. At times, you might find yourself feeling that these two goals cannot work together. However, that is not quite true – it’s perfectly possible to grow your business while being eco-friendly and aware. Let’s take a look at some of the ways you might be able to do just that.

Focus On Energy Use

One of the main things to focus on here is the amount of energy you are using. There is nothing that says you have to use a lot of energy in order to grow your business – it’s all just about the way in which you use it. If you are keen to be eco-friendly but also grow your business, you simply need to pay attention to when you are using energy, and then work towards reducing it. If you include this in your overall business plan, you’ll find it does not detract from growth whatsoever.

Rely On Green Tech

Very often, using technology is a much better solution than using older methods of doing something, as it is usually greener. This is especially true where the older methods would have used paper or some other natural resource. It’s not that digital tech does not use any natural resources – of course it does – but it usually uses fewer. If you use Total Merchant Services for payments, for instance, you are going to be using many fewer natural resources than other methods of taking payments, so this is the kind of tech you might want to focus on in future.

Get Customer Satisfaction Points

Here is one very good way to think about all this: these days, customers expect the businesses they support to be green, and if they are not, then generally they are going to be much less keen to support them. So you will actually be able to expect to get many more customers in the future if you are doing all you can to be green. In this way, you can see how being environmentally-friendly means that you are actually more likely to grow your business in a healthy way, and quickly too.

Get Your Employees On Board

The more effectively you can get your employees to agree on being eco-friendly, the more likely it is that the business as a whole is going to be green, even while working hard to build more and more over time. You can introduce a wide variety of schemes which will help your employees to be greener at work, such as paying them for cycling to work. These kinds of things will really help, so it’s definitely a good idea to think about doing them as soon as you can. Your business will still grow, but you will be doing less harm.
