Excellent Outdoor Businesses For Those With Plenty Of Land

October 15, 2020 11:37 am

If you’re looking to start a business, it’s best to start by looking at what you have to offer. This might be a specific service, ability, or product expertise. However, it might also be the property that you own. For instance, if you have a lot of outdoor land, there are more ways to use that to make a living than you might think. Here are a few ideas worth keeping in mind.

Letting strangers stay over

There is a lot of demand for rural accommodation for guests, especially if you live near some points of interest or areas of natural beauty. You can take the homesteading route and turn your home into a bed and breakfast, sharing a room with guests. However, if you own all the surrounding land, then you might also want to look into opening up a glamping spot.

Open a spot in the garden

If you live near a town or even a city with plenty of people who might like to get closer to the land, then starting a community garden might be a way to rake in some extra cash. As Capital Gardens shows, you can rent out parcels of your land for others to garden and grow their own fresh food in. Not only can it help people get out closer to nature, but it can be marketed as a health food service, as well.

Growing livestock

One of the most traditional uses for your land, you could look into the prospect of raising chickens, cows, sheep, pigs and more for the purposes of creating and selling animal products. This requires a lot of start-up funding, but it can be a very reliable living once you make partnerships with those who want to buy or distribute your goods.

Meet some fluffy guests

Aside from raising livestock for the sake of farming, if you have experience with caring for farm animals, then you can also make them a local attraction, especially if you live close to any tourist centres. Petting zoos are very popular and services like GB Alpacas can help you choose some of the most intriguing animals to make an attraction out of, too. However, you need to ensure that you’re ready for the responsibility of caring for every animal you house.

Get those green thumbs out

If you’re something of a gardener, then you might instead want to turn your land into a plant nursery. The flowers and plants that get sold in flower shops across the country all come from these places. Getting to know which flowers and plants are in high demand and how capable you are of raising them with the land that you have can be a fairly lucrative trade to get into.

Having plenty of land does open up your possibilities when it comes to starting a business, but it’s not going to make you a success. You need ot ensure that you have the determination and interest in your chosen field to make it work, too.
