Arts festivals can change the world

August 6, 2013 7:49 pm

Between the 24th and 29th of September, Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, will become the temporary home of young artists from around the sofistikworld. The first edition of the International Festival of Art Sofistik promises to be an unforgettable experience for all participants.

Everyone is welcomed to take part in the international festival  Sofistik – all you have to do is be at least 14 years old and ready to show your talent in order to feel the magic of art and to explore the real Bulgaria. The organizers believe that the picture of Bulgaria drawn by international media is not accurate and they don’t see a better way to improve it than actually showing it to the young artists.

During the five days of the festival different performances will take place – those moments will allow the participants to show each other their talents and to inspire each other. Elina Topalska, the leader of Dance formation “Sofistik-Zhivo” says that her own group loves traveling around the world because of the interaction with new people – after each tour the dancers come home with a lot of new energy and creative ideas for their dances. Their last tour was to Taiwan: “We didn’t only enjoy our trip – we came back changed. We had more than 8,000 photos and we used 120 of them for our exhibition to show our friends what we experienced,” Elina says.

sofiaApart from the performances the program will include exploring Sofia – a modern city with ancient history, and an opportunity to visit schools, care homes, different companies and much more, in order to actually understand Bulgaria. Let’s not forget that the participants are young artists – different workshops will be organised, where they will be able to learn the basics of traditional Bulgarian dances and the specific way of singing in this part of the world.

If you are part of a dancing or music group or if you have any other creative talent, don’t be afraid to explore a new country and broaden your horizons – that is how real art is done!
