3 Reasons You Should Choose a Used Car

Buying a car is a big deal. You need to make sure that you are getting good value for money, you can afford your insurance and you are satisfying your personal wants in terms of looks, mileage and speed.

But while you might assume that you can only tick all the boxes by buying a new car, the reality is that you are much more likely to find the car of your dreams at a used car dealership like Newtons of Ashley. With a wide range of cars to choose from and a greater chance of finding something in your budget, snapping up a deal won’t take much time at all.

The Price Drop is Huge

One of the main reasons people choose used cars is the difference in price. A typical new car loses around 40% of its value in the first year meaning that buying a new car is always going to be a loss if you plan to sell after such a brief time. Buying a used car that is a year old will save you money but will also limit the depreciation on the money you have spent.

People who buy new cars often want the very latest technology as soon as it arrives. This might be really important to you but the reality is that technology doesn’t move that fast. The chances are that a one-year-old car will have just as much cool tech as a brand new car. Deciding the perfect moment to upgrade will save you a lot of money – don’t sweat the small stuff, wait for a technology worth investing in.

There are Still Lots of Cars to Choose From

If you are the kind of person who likes to buy new, it’s probably because you know what you want and where to get it. What might surprise you is just how many used cars there are to choose from. You can stick to your preferred brand, sure, but in the used car industry, you might find another brand that works even better.

Taking a few different cars out for a test drive will help to inform you about the kind of driver you are and what you require. We all get used to driving a particular way but opening your eyes to a few options could be the push you need to find true driving comfort.

You Might be Surprised

Choosing the right car always comes down to a balance between lots of different things. Having a look around with a more open mind is a good way to see where your money goes when you buy a car and what you really want. In a new car showroom, they are going to tell you that their brand is the best one; at a used car dealership, they are going to establish your needs and find the car to suit.

Allowing yourself an opportunity to be surprised is always a good thing. Because cars come in so many different shapes, sizes and colors with different tech and specs, you should always shop with an open mind.
