Ten Quotes to Get You Through the Working Day

you can never cross the oceanFrom time to time, we all have trouble motivating ourselves at work. Whether it be because of a particularly mind numbing task or project, a difficult period in our personal lives or even a lament for the job itself, occasionally, it can be tough to get going!

Mike Judge’s hit 1999 movie Office Space, does an excellent job of depicting the plight of the desk bound working man in a frank and humorous way, using cult characters such as the ultra-pessimistic Peter Gibbons, comically frustrated Michael Bolton, ‘boss from hell’ Bill Lumbergh and tragically iconic ‘guardian of the red stapler’, Milton.

If you’re feeling a little down about work and are looking for a little empathy and cheering up, I would strongly recommend watching Office Space. However, until you find the time to sit down and enjoy it, here are a few motivational quotes that might just get you through the working day…

  • “Your lifetime is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.” – Steve Jobs

  • “Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” – Albert Einstein

  • “Don’t Wait. The time will never be just right.” – Napoleon Hill

  • “80% off success is showing up.” – Woody Allen

  • “What’s money? A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between, does what he wants to do.” – Bob Dylan

  • “The past is a ghost, the future is a dream. All we ever have is now.” – Bill Cosby

  • “Life’s what happens when you’re busy making other plans.” – John Lennon

  • “The mind is everything. You think what you become.” – Buddha

  • “An unexamined life is not worth living.” – Socrates

  • “You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.” – Christopher Columbus

I do hope these little pearls of wisdom have served to give a little inspiration, or at the very least, offer some brief entertainment.
